Tonight's meeting is still on, but Eric has taken ill and won't be able to give his TV Basics talk tonight. He asked me to apologize to everyone for the last minute change.

Instead, we'll have an open Q & A session focusing on ingest and export of both files and tape. We'll also have a chance to check out Media Composer 6 on the Mac platform.

We'll still have our raffle with some great items up for grabs.

We'll try to reschedule Eric for another meeting in late March or April.

I hope to see many of you tonight.

You are invited to attend the next meeting of the DC Avid Users Group.

Our guest will be Eric Wenocur of Lab-Tech Systems.

Eric will present some short excerpts from a class on "TV Tech Basics for Editors."  We will briefly touch on changes in video technology and processes over the last several decades, then talk about video monitoring concepts.  After a break we will discuss audio equipment and connections commonly found in edit systems.

8:30 – 9:00 pm | Q & A and Raffle!

Bring your questions about the technical aspects of video production. Together we will try to answer them.

Our final activity will be a raffle to raise money for the users group. We have several great books from Focal Press. We also have a number of Avid hats, t-shirts, etc.

Tickets are one dollar each. You may buy as many tickets as you like. Remember that there is only one prize per person. Don't miss it.

GV Expo
Our big event is Wednesday at Fort Meade, but don't forget about the GV Expo, also this week. It's at the DC Convention Center on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 9 am - 5 pm and Thursday, Dec. 1 from 9 am - 3 pm. Avid will be in the Digital Video Group booth this year exclusively. They will have Media Composer 6 with Avid and AJA hardware, as well as ISIS and likely Interplay. Don't miss it.

You can get a free pass courtesy of Digital Video Group here:

Here are some additional announcements:

Lion Only
One of our DC Avid Users Group members wanted me to share with Mac OS Avid users the fact that MC6 is supported on Lion 10.7 only. A lot of us Mac users are currently running Snow Leopard so we'll need to upgrade to Lion in order to run MC6. Because MC6 is making the leap from 32 to 64-bit, the system requirements are important to follow. Here's a link to more info:
